Joshua 2:1
Joshua 2:1 (NKJV) 1 Now Joshua the son of Nun sent out two men from Acacia Grove to spy secretly, saying, ''Go, view the land, especially Jericho.'' So, they went, and came to the house of a harlot named Rahab, and lodged there.
Joshua is about ready to move the people into the new...
The story of Rahab in chap 2 is a great example of redemption of God, the heart of God and the willingness for God to use people that others would deem unfit...
Joshua while being a real person, and these things real events, was also a type and shadow of Jesus.
Interesting that Joshua sent out two spies into a dark place, wicked culture, pagan culture and a great picture of redemption came out of it.
It may be that you feel you are in the middle of one of those places, a job perhaps or situation and you need to be encouraged to see the restorative work of God happen. You may feel you are right in the middle of a Jericho...And God has a plan!
Joshua sent out the two spies and they ended up lodging at a brothel, house of ill-repute or whatever else description you may have go through your head....
So, we know that the King of Jericho heard about the spies, and that Rahab hid them on her roof from being captured...
Joshua 2:8-11 (NKJV)?8 Now before they lay down, she came up to them on the roof,?9 and said to the men: ''I know that the Lord has given you the land, that the terror of you has fallen on us, and that all the inhabitants of the land are fainthearted because of you.?10 For we have heard how the Lord dried up the water of the Red Sea for you when you came out of Egypt, and what you did to the two kings of the Amorites who were on the other side of the Jordan, Sihon and Og, whom you utterly destroyed.?11 And as soon as we heard these things, our hearts melted; neither did there remain any more courage in anyone because of you, for the Lord your God, He is God in heave ...
