Joshua 3:1-7


This series has been not only about Joshua leading Israel into the new season, the new future for them but also how we can carry ourselves and apply some of the same truths personally... I am going to take Joshua chapters 3,4, and 5 this morning and use them to illustrate a few key concepts...

Joshua 3:1-7 (ESV)?1 Then Joshua rose early in the morning and they set out from Shittim. And they came to the Jordan, he and all the people of Israel, and lodged there before they passed over.

Vs 3-4 show us the most important principle we can apply to our lives...

2 At the end of three days the officers went through the camp?3 and commanded the people, ''As soon as you see the ark of the covenant of the Lord your God being carried by the Levitical priests, then you shall set out from your place and follow it.?4 Yet there shall be a distance between you and it, about 2,000 cubits in length. Do not come near it, in order that you may know the way you shall go, for you have not passed this way before.''

The Ark represents the presence of the Lord, and that the positioning of God in our lives is extremely critical! Expound on positioning for anything...athletes, how my wife likes to enter a building...

In three different translations vs 3 reads...

Joshua 3:3 (NKJV)?3 and they commanded the people, saying, ''When you see the ark of the covenant of the Lord your God, and the priests, the Levites, bearing it, then you shall set out from your place and go after it.


We were created to pursue God....Men know how to pursue things, know how to hunt things down! Cars, trucks, Critters and Bargains, Careers etc.

The most critical steps we make as we move into the future are making sure we have positioned ourselves within God's will and we pursue, and we follow Him!

The problem is we pursue things that God has never intended for us...Or we get ''ahead'' of ...
