KEYS TO SUCCESSFUL PARENTING (4 of 6)
THE KEYS TO INTEGRITY
Curt Dodd
Proverbs 10:9; 11:3; 26:24

Several years ago a book came out entitled THE DAY
AMERICA TOLD THE TRUTH. In this work, research showed
91% of Americans lie routinely; 36% confessed to dark,
important lies; 86% said they lied regularly to their
parents; 75% lied to their friends; 73% to siblings;
69% to spouses; 81% lie about feelings; 43% lie about
their income and 40% lie about sex.

Integrity is a problem in our entire country. It is
even a problem within the religious community. A
recent bona research project in which 3,700 youth
involved in church activities answered 193 questions
recorded some amazing statistics. Two out of 3
participants lied to a parent, teacher or other adult;
6 in 10 lied to their friends; 1 in 3 cheated on
exams. What is occurring in our country is a decline

Diogenes, a Greek philosopher, once lighted a candle
in daytime and went around looking for an honest man.
Blaise Pascal said he did not expect to meet three
honest men in a century. And the Institute of Behavior
Motivation found that 97 out of 100 people tell lies
and they do it about a 1,000 times a year.

What about you? Is there a lack of integrity in your
life? And that in your children's lives? As we look at
the Bible we find that we can't help but see that the
Bible is true. The key to great men and women in the
Bible is simply this, that God knew He could trust
them even when they were alone. On the other hand we
know the Bible is ...
