INTRODUCTION

What does it mean to be saved? Or to put it another way? ''What is salvation?''

This is the question that every religion, every worldview, every philosophy is trying to answer.

I once had a philosophy professor--at a secular university--say that every philosophy on the earth is trying to answer four questions.

How did we get here? What went wrong? Who is going to fix it? How will it all end?

Every philosophy/worldview recognizes that something is not right with the world... And it needs to be fixed. Or we need to be rescued.



Every major world religion, has a concept of salvation. (Buddhism, Islam, Judaism, Sikhism, Mormonism, even Scientology)

It might be a transcendent state of being. It might be a vision of an afterlife where there is all sorts of pleasure. But every religion has some concept of salvation.

And every religion has a path or a set of beliefs, or actions...Or a type of life that one must live in order to experience this salvation.



But it isn't just religions... Our culture has concepts of salvation. If you pay attention, you will see this everywhere.

Political parties have a theory for what has gone wrong... And how it can be fix.

The sexual revolution. Uses salvific terms. The world is repressed sexually and freedom and salvation comes when we unshackle ourselves from the traditions of the past.

New Atheism... Religion is what has gone wrong... Salvation is ridding ourselves of all religion... John Lennon - ''Imagine all the people, living for today!''

If you have eyes to see, you will see this everywhere... Everyone, everywhere is trying to understand what has gone wrong... And how we can be saved from it all.
