Philippians 2:5-11
INTRODUCTION
My wife and I have been married for almost ten years. We've been parents for six.
Those first 3-4 years of my marriage. I loved my wife.
But these last six years... Even with the challenges of parenting, my love for her has grown tremendously.
Because as I watch her mother our three children (all under the age of 6--one of whom has severe special needs)... I have watched her pour her life out to the point of exhaustion nearly every day so our children can thrive.
She gave up three years of her life so I could pursue graduate school as a full-time student... But when she wanted to go to graduate school... She started four days after the birth of our second child... Did her homework while feeding an infant ... And still graduated in one year... 4.0. Summa Cum Laude.. She's amazing.
Many of the hobbies she used to do for fun and rest... She is no longer able to do... because her time is dedicated to our three kids. In many ways, she doesn't really have a life right now... She has given that up so our kids can have lives... Ballet classes, school, therapy sessions, playdates at the park...
She used to spend hours a week in prayer and Bible study... Now, she is only able to squeeze in a few minutes a day.
She is a social worker by day... She works two jobs... She works for an adoption agency... And She works with special needs kids... A tiring job... And she comes home and finds the strength to care for our special needs child-and two other children.
And on Sundays... She serves your children in Crossroads Kids.
My wife is incredible... And there are many other women in our church... Who have similar stories...
