INTRODUCTION

Knowing Christ through the Scriptures
Growing Together as a Family
Going into the World to Make Disciples
Seems pretty simple... And it is... But simplicity is a beautiful thing.
We're not trying to create some new kind of church... We're simply trying to join the generations of saints and the ''cloud of witnesses'' that have gone before us... As we strive to walk in the way of Jesus.
This has always been the mission of the church. To Know Christ, Grow together with other Jesus followers, and Go into the world to make disciples of Jesus.
Other churches may print it differently on their signs and websites... But the simple fact is this... The mission of the Xian life is to Love God, Love one another, and love the world.
In our passage, today... Paul makes this same statement-though he uses different language. Christian maturity... Is a life that is purposed on knowing Jesus, loving others, and going into the world.
We're coming to the end of the first chapter in Paul's letter to the Philippians...
So far, we've studied Paul's greeting... His introduction... But today, he pivots and gets to the point of the letter.
[27] Only... let your manner of life be worthy of the gospel of Christ

Nothing should distract them or excuse them from this objective.
Remember what is going on in this letter... Paul used to be the pastor of this church in Philippi... But now he is in Rome... In prison... On trial for his life... Being persecuted...
The church in Philippi loves him... They miss him... They are worried for him.
