Today we live in an environment of image conscious people.
Image is everything to many people. I wonder if you could fill
in the blank for me out loud to these statements: You've got to
take care of ____________, Number 1. It's expensive but I'm
worth it! How about these book titles, WINNING THROUGH
INTIMIDATION, how about this one, DRESS FOR SUCCESS.
Most people are totally obsessed with how they appear to others
in casting that kind of shadow of influence and importance
happens to be the key thing that many people spend their time
on. We have a tendency to flaunt what we have. We throw names
like they were big checks to write. People we know, people who
know us, people who we've been around, we talk about where we
went on vacation, the kind of clothes we wear. It seems like
our whole culture is feeding on and trying to develop one
campaign of self promotion after another and by that same
mentality, it creates fragmented relationships that keep good
things from going. If fact, the greatest that God could ever
give you is a loving relationship with another person. However,
nothing can torpedo and destroy a God-given relationship than
pride, ego that is out of control. That's exactly the root
problem of many relationships. It is either an overweening
pride or a position of great selfishness which is covered up by
pride. How do you keep good relationships from going bad, in
doing so, we must be able to deal with our egos in a proper
Biblical perspective, realizing that God has made us like we
are, but we need to realize what ...
