And we know that in all things God works for the good of those
who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.
As we live our lives, there come those moments in time for our
very physical existence and the existence upon the face of this
earth of loved ones we cherish deeply into jeopardy. It is
then that often we break ties of the modes of our traditions,
our prior experiences and that of our friends to hang on to the
very life that we have or a relationship that we cherish.
Whatever you go through in life, God is trying to do a work and
sometimes healing is part of that work. There is a great deal
of it in the Bible.
Jesus healed out of compassion and also it was His commission as
the Messiah. What we need today in light of so much that we see
on television and hear from emotional testimonies of people who
have been in healing meetings and listened to preachers who are
self-pronounced healers, we need a solid doctrinal stance in
this area. As you pastor, I want you to be spiritually strong,
not tossed.
What you believe about God today in the beliefs that you go
through in your life ought to be the same beliefs that carry you
through those dark times of desperation. You do not need a
theology, a belief about God, for the good times and then need
an additional theology for those times of desperation. What we
believe about God and what we believe about His Word need to be
consistently true both today when we have no need and tomorrow
when we need everything. What about healing? Why are people
so drawn to this area? ...
