Philippians 2:14-18
Oh man, this has been a wild week for me and it still is a wild
week. The Southern Baptist Convention is in town and I have
been constantly going from here to George R. Brown Convention
Center and I kind of wonder if I should have gotten a hotel room
and just stayed down town. But I tell you what, fighting the
traffic and some of you do it every day, twice, I want you to
know that my experience gives great sympathy to you and I know
that though preachers can say, "What a great time for quiet time
to pray," you know, it doesn't lend itself to that. But some of
you have experienced that in reality I guess here.
Let me just tell you, this has been a rich week for Southern
Baptists. It has been a great convention, it's really been
without much controversy. Southern Baptists have taken a stand
to separate themselves from the beliefs that have been
illustrated from the President's stands and although he is
Southern Baptist, they have passed a resolution to say that that
is not what we stand for as Southern Baptist and called the
President to turn and repent while at the same time saying we
are going to pray for him in all love.
I tell you what, it's been wild to see the news reporters down
there trying to get a story some how or another about how
divisive it is and I want you to know that this has been one of
the most peaceful conventions I have been to in a decade. It is
really boring, it's really boring. But it's the kind of boring
that you really want. Often you go to a convention as a pastor
and you know you have a chance to be around some of your friends
that you haven't seen in ...
