INTRODUCTION: There have been many inspiring half-time speeches given in the history of sports. Perhaps the most famous of all is the half-time speech given by Notre Dame football coach Knute Rockne to the fighting Irish in the their game against Army in 1928. George Gipp was one of the greatest players in Notre Dame history. Notre Dame emerged from the locker room after the inspirational speech and won the game.
