Our Holy God (1 of 4)
Series: Worship in Heaven

Revelation 4: 6-8

What is worship? It is the creature acknowledging the creator. It is expressions of exultation, praise or thanks to God for who he is (his character) and what he has done (his works).

Martin Luther - ''The most acceptable service we can do and show unto God and which he desires of us, is, that he be praised of us.''

Modern church Worship has become making the people feel good that they came. As a result, there is a band which is often loud, the songs are new and they turn down the lights to set the mood that you are being entertained. To make it more entertaining the lighting on the stage changes with the mood of the songs from white to green to yellow or to red. Some churches have added smoke machines as well.

Pentecostal church Worship has become an emotional experience as they speak gibberish nonsense, jump up and down, roll on the floor, hop around on one leg and sometimes even bark like a dog.

Charismatic authors usually describe the presence of the Holy Spirit like a jolt of electricity which gives people a remarkable tingling, electrifying sensation that starts to spread from their feet up their legs to their head through their arms to their fingers.

What is true worship Jerome (d.420) - the earlier church father and theologian - ''The purpose for which mankind was created is to be aware of its Creator, and to worship him in fear and respect.''

Psalm 29:2 Give unto the Lord the glory due his name; worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness.

John MacArthur - ''That is our supreme duty for time and eternity - to honor, adore, delight in glorify and enjoy God above all His creation, as He is worthy to be worshiped.'' CREATURES WORSHIP :6b-7 Scene :6b On each of the four sides of God's throne there were living beings. Living creatures (KJB beasts) - Gk. living beings not animals. Note: a different word is used for the beast in chapter 13.
