Revelation 5:11-14
The word ''worship'' means different things to different people. For some it means formal and others casual. For others it means different styles of music from old hymns to modern songs.
Our English word worship comes from the old Anglo Saxton word meaning honor or respect. The title ''Your honor'' was used to address magistrates and others who were government leaders.
Worship is defined as: ''the performance of devotional acts in honor of a Supreme Being; reverence; respect; loving devotion.''
Going to church to worship can become just a routine which you do every Sunday. Instead of being engaged your heart is not in it and your mind is not focused so that even though you went it really meant nothing. You just went through the motions without thinking about what you were doing or singing.
Stephen Charnock - ''We may be truly said to worship God, though we lack perfection; but we cannot be said to worship him if we lack sincerity.''
In this last of the four songs in Revelation chapters 4 and 5 the great multitude in heaven praises the Lamb Jesus Christ and God the Father for their character.
GREAT MULTITUDE :11 Four living creatures - represent the cherubim which are an special order of angels that continually praise God.
Elders - represent all believers throughout history. Twenty-four (:8) the 12 tribes of Israel and 12 apostles.
Myriads (KJB ten thousand times ten thousand) - it was the highest number the Greeks had in their language. There were so many you could not count all of them.
Revelation 7:9 Believers in heaven are described as: a great multitude that no one could count or number. This great multitude is there for one purpose to worship. Worship is not about them, but about honoring Christ. All true worship is focused on God and Christ not man. If it is about us then it is not worship, but entertainment.
