A Faith That Does (3 of 3)
Curt Dodd
James 2:14
We've been studying this section of James, talking about a faith that lives doing for several weeks and tonight is very, very important. Now I want to also remind you that next Wednesday night we will be doing a very special worship service, it will be a Deacon Ordination Service. We will observe The Lord's Supper together and there are thirty-one (31) new men who will be ordained into the deaconate of our church and I pray that you'll be here, not only to observe The Lord's Supper but to pray for their families. It will be a wonderful worship service next Wednesday night, so as we observe The Lord's Supper next Wednesday and as we install and ordain about thirty-one new Deacons, I pray that you'll be here in attendance. The Bible says in James 2, verse 14: What good is it, my brothers, if a man claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save him?
In verses 14 through 26, we read the admonition of James to the church talking about the importance of learning what it really means to walk in faith and a faith that does more than say, ''I believe.'' Remember, the scripture teaches us that devils believe that there is one God, and they tremble. A lot of folks, I think, are going to miss heaven by about twelve inches, the difference between the head and the heart and the real faith that takes place. God wants to do a work on the inside of our heart, but He wants that work that is inside of our heart to be produced through our life. So tonight, if you will, why don't you just follow along with me as I go through very quickly a couple of things I've shared with you and then we'll try to do our best to complete our study tonight on this one issue.
(1) A faith that lives doing, verses 15-16, we looked at the passion of a faith that does.
