She was so true and so sure of me, I felt that I had someone to live for - someone I must not disappoint. The memory of my Mother will always be a blessing to me.'' Lots of you will spend the day with your mother, others of you will call yours, and then many will reflect on the life and legacy of your mothers.*
Being a mom is no easy task. And so today, it is very appropriate and right to pause and say ''Thank You'' to our mothers, and to honor them, and thank God for them. At the same time, I know that Mother's Day can be a very difficult day for some of you. For lots of different reasons:
for some, your mother is no longer alive and you really miss her
for some, motherhood is an accident, and not always a welcome one
for some, biological motherhood isn't possible
for some, mothers weren't all that nice
for some, motherhood under the very best of circumstances is still less than abed of roses and a primrose path.
So, why bother with Mothers' Day at all? I'll tell you why - because for all its stumbling blocks, pitfalls and broken dreams, for all the dirty diapers, crayon-colored walls, and spoiled plans, we're ...
