1 John 5:19
I want to talk to you today about CULTURE. Culture: the set of shared values, attitudes, goals, and practices that characterizes an organization. We live in this world and while everyone is different, they are very much the same. This world has a culture tied to it. Truth be told, here is what my Bible and your Bible says:
1 John 5:19 (NIV) We know that we are children of God, and that the whole world is under the control of the evil one.
We don't have to look too far to see the spirit that is in the world. How many more school shootings do we have to endure? How many more young lives will be lost through suicide before we wake up to the reality that the world needs Jesus. I am not saying that everyone who is not in the church is worshiping Satan. What I am saying is that the culture of this world is anti-Christ. So, we have the culture of the world, then there is the culture of the church or religion. I want to talk to you about how on the most part the culture of the church world is not in line with the culture of Jesus. And lastly, let's talk about our own individual culture vs the Jesus culture.
WHAT IS THE CULTURE OF JESUS?
Believe what you will about Him, nobody else has created more controversy, changed more lives, shaped more of culture, or shifted more of history than Jesus. No one has taught more provocatively about life's meaning, nor walked the talk more authentically. Surely such a defining figure deserves a closer look - by skeptics, cynics and believers alike. You might discover - as millions have - that Jesus is not only as real as the Bible says He is, but that He loves you as much as the Bible says He does. That is the good news of Jesus.
