Hebrews 10:1
Sacrifice. When we talk about Memorial Day, that is what we are talking about - the SACRIFICE that men and women made for us to have the life we have and enjoy all the freedoms of living in this great Nation. If you have a loved one who paid the ultimate sacrifice and lost their life in the military or as a law enforcement officer, rescue squad, first responder or firefighter, would you please stand. WE HONOR YOUR LOVED ONE AND SAY ON BEHALF OF OUR COUNTRY AND OUR CHURCH, THANK YOU TO YOUR FAMILY MEMBER WHO LAID DOWN THEIR LIFE TO GIVE US OURS. THANK YOU. THANK YOU. THANK YOU.
What an example. Jesus said, John 15:13 Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one's life for his friends.
We know that ultimately Jesus was talking about Himself. That He would lay His life down on the cross for those He would call His friends AND those who would be called His enemies. These men and women that we are remembering today would have never realized the love that they demonstrated when they sacrificed themselves for someone else. Most likely someone whom they have never met.
Maybe I want to address the parents here today as well. For all that you have done in order that your children can have the kind of life that maybe you didn't have, THANK YOU.

Biblically the word sacrifice as both a noun, verb or adjective is used 312 times 272 in the Old Testament itself and only 40 t ...
