Hope Restored (3 of 3)
Series: It’s Not Over

Psalm 27:13
In this sermon series, we are highlighting the encounters Jesus had with a few individuals after His resurrection. This week I want to talk to you about the encounter Jesus had with Peter after His resurrection in a message called HOPE RESTORED.
Hope is the most important ingredient in life. Hope is the expectation of good. David said in Psalm 27:13 (TMB) I would have fainted, unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living. Hope is the foundation of joy and peace in the hearts of humankind. Statistically, over 16 million American adults are affected by Major Depressive Disorder in a given year. I am sure most of these adults have suffered from a loss of hope.
Paul prayed this prayer for the church: (Romans 15:13) ''Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.''
So, God doesn't want you barely getting by in life. He doesn't want you teetering on the brink of depression, but He wants you to be filled with ABUNDANT HOPE. That your heart and soul would abound with an expectation of good.
But we all live in the real world. We all face things in life that take our hope away. We had a hope and a dream, and it was dashed. We had an expectation of something to happen in our lives that we defined as good, and it never happened.
We recently heard about a good friend of our oldest daughter whose baby died in her womb at 32 weeks gestation. What a tragedy - the loss of a young life and the loss of the hopes and dreams of a mother's heart for their child's life.
THE MESSAGE TODAY IS THAT IN JESUS, HOPE CAN BE RESTORED. But How?
Loss of hope comes in many sizes and forms. In the case of Peter (who is our character study today), hope was loss through failure. The hope in Peter's heart was a life filled with joy because the Messiah had come. He left all ...
