(Military Dad video) Homecomings brings joy, are special, and are GREAT!! The internet is replete with videos about homecomings. I googled military and found many such videos. In a true homecoming, there is always joy, there is inner peace (someone gone is now back home), there is affection, and there is security. It's a great feeling being back home.

Coming back to a familiar place has a nostalgic feel to it. I can tell you when I returned to South Mississippi, I felt at home. To feel at home is to feel a sense of comfort, protection, being settled, and even secure. Generally, Homecomings should just give good feelings.

That is certainly true in a church homecoming. We come together remember and reflecting on the works and word of God in the past while not losing sight that God continues in His desire to bless us and give us His favor and a future like we have not imagined. That's God's desire. This is why we celebrate a time of ''Homecoming.'' Too often, we make it about us, but it's really about Him.

THINK: We come home to the place where God spoke to us in the past; because we desire Him to speak to us in the present; and pray for Him to lead us into the future. That's our heart. //

What I want us to do is to take a very familiar story, Jesus told, and talk about a HALLELUJAH HOMECOMING. Then see that steps that are involved. Then finally compare it to our personal walk with God. For you see, as good as a Church Homecoming is, it is nothing compared to that Homecoming which awaits those who return to our God through the person of Jesus Christ. This is indeed a GREAT HOMECOMING and I want all of us in this room to be there. That said, according to the words of Jesus, not everyone will be there. How about YOU?
