Matthew 7:11
So far in our series we have learned:
- Everyone wants to be blessed, and to be blessed you have to be on blessing ground and we said that the prime real estate for blessing is - generosity. Because something Jesus said over and over was, ''It is more blessed to give than to receive''.
- Second week we dispelled the ''Myth of Mine'' buy learning that God owns everything and we are stewards who are expected to leverage all that we have for the pleasure of the true owner God.
- Last week we saw the most exciting aspect of generosity - spontaneous giving.
- This week we are going to conclude this series by answering number of questions that I have gotten in that last few weeks, and frankly throughout 20 years of ministry related to generosity and giving.
Let's jump right in:
1. Is it a sin to want and to have nice things? ?
This is very important - God is a good Father and He desires to bless His children and he wants them to personally enjoy the things He gives.
Matthew 7:11 (ESV)
11 If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him!
Psalm 84:11 (ESV)
11 For the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord bestows favor and honor. No good thing does he withhold from those who walk uprightly.
Romans 8:32 (ESV)
32 He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things?
1 Timothy 6:17 (ESV)
17 As for the rich in this present age, charge them not to be haughty, nor to set their hopes on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who richly provides us with everything to enjoy.
- Are you able to afford a nice vehicle? Enjoy it!
- Do you have a nice home? Enjoy it!
- Do you have multiple properties? Enjoy them!
