Love So Amazing
Curt Dodd
John 12:12-15
The next day the great crowd that had come for the Feast heard that Jesus was on his way to Jerusalem. They took palm branches and went out to meet him, shouting, ''Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Blessed is the King of Israel.'' Jesus found a young donkey and sat upon it, as it is written, ''Do not be afraid, O Daughter of Zion; see, your king is coming, seated on a donkey's colt.''
Then again in John 19:14-15, Caiaphas tells the people, presenting Christ to them:
''Here is your king,'' Pilate said to the Jews. But they shouted, ''Take him away! Take him away! Crucify him!''
Then while Jesus gave His life's blood for us on the cross, the scripture says in John
19, verse 30, Jesus said:
''It is finished!''
As I watch the life of Jesus through the pages of the gospel, I cannot help but be overwhelmed by God's amazing love. Did you know the word, ''Love'' is used five-hundred-and fifty-one (551) times in five-hundred and five (505) verses? In fact the word, ''Love'' is used for a lot of different things. In fact we love things, sometimes we see and hear and even express our love for our family, for our friends. But there is never such great love as seen in the life of Jesus Christ going to the cross, dying for our sins as God's amazing love. It boggles the mind that the creator of the universe would love us so much that He would allow Jesus to die for you and for me. And on this Palm Sunday weekend, I want us to discover, to think once again, on God's love which is a love so amazing. There are several things I would share with you.
I. GOD'S LOVE HAS AN AMAZING ESTABLISHMENT First of all, I want you to see that God's love has an amazing establishment. John 3:16 records the very words of Jesus as He said: For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
