From the oldest book in the bible comes the oldest question of mankind. Job asked, ''If a man dies, shall he live again?'' Maybe even more precise: When a man dies, will he live again?

Every person's life has something in common with a book, a movie, or Christmas vacation--they all come to an end. Your heart only has so many beats, and then it will beat no more. Your lungs have so many breaths and then they will breathe no more. Everyday 150,000 people come to the end of their life. And that reality drives some people on quest for answers and sinks others into a tailspin of despair. When a person knows they are taking the final step of their life's journey from the cradle to the casket, there is no more pressing question on their mind than the one posed by Job: If a man dies, shall he live again?

How does the Gospel clarify the truth about what happens after this life is over? We just so happen to find the answer to that question in our text today. Open your bibles to 1 Corinthians 15. We're looking at verses 20-28. In these verses, Paul says, 'Because Jesus died and rose from the dead and is alive forevermore...here are some things about the afterlife you can take to the bank and believe with all your heart. What things Paul? (READ 20-28). After this life is over...



1. BELIEVER'S WILL LIVE FOREVER.

V20, ''But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep.''

Death, for believers, is as simple, as harmless, and as temporary as going to sleep. It's not to be feared or dreaded. Why? Because death is not the end of a believer's life; it's only the transition to new life.

The key word is 'firstfruits'. It's easy to skip over that word because most of us aren't farmers and don't have much experience with agriculture so it's hard for us to understand the magnitude of this word. The firstfruits wer ...
