Take your bible and open it to 1 Corinthians 15. 1 Corinthians 15 is centered on the Gospel and gives clarity to so many things we have questions about. One of those things we wonder about is the new body every believer will receive from God. God promises a new eternal body to every person who loves Him and belongs to Him through Christ Jesus. Have you ever wondered what your body will be like in heaven? I've always joked that in heaven I want a body with brains, bangs, and biceps. Maybe I'm shooting a little too low. I don't know. What kind of body will God give us that will last forever? Our text today, 1 Corinthian 15:35-49, gives surprising clarity to that question. 1. THE OBJECTION TO A NEW ETERNAL BODY.
V35, ''But someone will ask, ''How are the dead raised? With what kind of body will they come?'' As we have seen, some had rejected the belief life after death, so they had practical objections to a bodily resurrection. Their objection was: How can you take a dead human body, bury it, and it decomposes to ash over a long period of time...how will that body be raised to life? That's a good question.
I remember lying in bed when I was five years old crying my eyes out. My mom heard me, came in my room, and asked me what was wrong. She still laughs about what I said. Through my tears I said, ''Mom, if a lion eats me and my body is ripped apart, how will I ever go to heaven? I'll be a mess.'' Obviously, a deep thinker from a young age. Ha! But that's the thought behind their objection of this text.
