Let's take our Bibles and turn to 1 Corinthians 12. Let me ask you: Are you a Charismatic Christian?
Some of you are like, 'I don't know what that is, but it sounds contagious.' But for others of you it conjures up visions in your mind of people speaking in tongues, or worshippers running up and down the aisles of the church, and people being slain in the Spirit. If that's your idea of charismatic, you're probably saying, ''No, no, no. No way. I'm NOT a charismatic Christian.'' Most Baptist's I know are more like the frozen chosen, right? You can't tell if they're full of reverence or rigor mortis.
Well, let me clue you in a little bit, if you are a Christian...you are a Charismatic Christian. Yes, you are. You say, ''Pastor Bob, I don't even clap my hands in church.'' Doesn't matter. If you're truly a Christian, you are a charismatic. And I'm going to prove it to you biblically in just a moment.
Let's read 1 Cor. 12:1-7 (READ). Remember the Corinthians had written a letter full of questions for their former pastor the Apostle Paul. They had questions about marriage. They had questions about eating meat sacrificed to idols. And they had lots of questions about something called spiritual gifts. We don't have the Corinthian letter, but we can surmise the questions they must have asked by the answers Paul gave them.
What are spiritual gifts? Does every believer have one?
Does any believer have all the gifts? What is the baptism of the Holy Spirit?
Are some of the gifts more important than other gifts? Is it wrong not to use your gifts?
How can we discover what spiritual gifts God has given each person? Those are some pretty good questions, aren't they?
