1 Corinthians 12: 12-26
Open those Bibles you brought to 1 Cor. 12. The human body is fascinating. It really is. There are so many parts and functions we take for granted until something goes wrong. For example, did you know:
- Our LIVER performs over 500 different functions for our bodies. And you thought you were busy!
- Within your body there are over a 100,000 miles of BLOOD VESSELS. Go 4 times around the world.
- Our EYES can distinguish about 10 million different colors. The experts say the human eye can differentiate over 500 shades of grey! I'll just have to take their word for it.
- Our NOSE can tell which direction a smell comes. Usually from the backseat, right?
- And our nose creates a stronger memory in our brain than our eyes. That's why you can smell something and your mind transports you back to when you were a kid.
- Like fingerprints, everyone also has a unique TONGUE PRINT. No two tongues are the same. Police used to tongue print people, but the ink tasted terrible. So, they went to fingerprinting. No, I'm just kidding.
- Without your PINKY, you would lose about 50% of your hand strength.
- Do you know what the LARGEST ORGAN of your body is? Your skin.
- Do you know the strongest muscle in your body? JAW MUSCLE.
Some parts of the body we all know a lot about. Other parts of the body not so much. But what we do know is every single moment of every single day we need every single part of our body inside and out to do their jobs well to have a healthy body and productive life. The bible says what is true of our physical body is true of the church body. Some parts of the church body are seen/known, others are not. But while we are all gifted different, we are all needed equally. That's exactly what Paul is emphasizing in verses 12-26. (READ TEXT)
