Philippians 3:7-11
Open your bibles to Philippians 3. You have all probably heard of, if not played the popular game 'Would You Rather'. It's a game where people pose a dilemma in the form of a question beginning with ''would you rather'' and then give two options that usually have their positives and negatives.
Would you rather have three kids and no money, or no kids with three million dollars?
Would you rather know how you will die or when you will die?
Would you rather be the funniest person in the room or the most intelligent?
Would you rather be without elbows or be without knees?
I want to present you with a more serious one that is at the heart of our text today.
Would you rather have EVERYTHING except Jesus or have NOTHING but Jesus?
Option #1: All the freedom, all the wealth, all the fun, all the travel, all the personal security, all of the pleasures you have ever dreamed about and this world can offer. You can have anything/everything you want except one thing. You can have everything except Jesus. No relationship with Him, no worship of Him, no prayer to Him, no dependence on Him, and no promises from Him. Option #1: Have everything except Jesus.
Option #2: You must give up all of your freedom, all of your family, all of your finances, and any future life that people call normal. You have to give up everything except one thing. You can have Jesus. You can have connection, conversation, communion, and companionship with Him.
Would you rather have EVERYTHING except Jesus or you can have NOTHING but Jesus?
