Death is a subject about which Americans do not like to discuss. We will talk about almost any other subject but death, because we don't like to think about loved ones dying or our own death.

A newspaper published the following article: ''We are living as if there were no such thing as death. It seems something which no-one wants to speak about, if they can help it. At one time it would appear that most people were afraid of being taken unawares and dying suddenly. Today, it would seem that more wish that they could drop dead in an instant or die in their sleep without having to take leave of this world.''

We don't like to think about the subject of death even though it is something everyone faces with their loved ones and themselves. Ecclesiastes 3:2 There is a time to be born and a time to die. Hebrews 9:27 It is appointed to man to die once.

Movie director Woody Allen - ''I'm not afraid to die. I just don't want to be there when it happens.''

Puritan George Swinnock - ''A godly man is free from the sting, but not the stroke of death.'' Everyone eventually dies because we live in a sinful world and as a result of our own sinful nature.

Death is something everyone eventually faces in life. Godly king Hezekiah faced death as a result of an infection.
