THE CHURCH AS JESUS SEES IT

Next Sunday I'll begin a four part series on Following
Christ as His disciple, it's all about discipleship, living
the Christian life, following Christ. The title of it is
called, "Finding More Than Happiness," more than happiness,
Following Christ. I want to encourage you about those
upcoming messages.
This morning though, I want us to, at the beginning of
coming out of the summer, going into Bible study, and turning
on all the ministries of the church, I want us to look at the
church again, and ask the question of Christ, or the petition
to Christ, "Christ with your vision of your church, what you
desire your church to be, would that be re-born in us, that
we do not allow the church to become just something that is
an expression of our lives, our culture, our expectations,
but we really experience your intention for your church."
So let's have that prayer in mind as we read this
scripture together, would you stand with me as we read this,
and would you read it aloud with me please.
"Brothers, if anyone is caught in a sin, you who are
spiritual should restore him gently; but watch yourself or
you also may be tempted. Carry each other's burdens, and in
this way you will fulfill the law of Christ. If anyone
thinks he is something when he is nothing, he deceives
himself. Each one should test his own actions, then he can
take pride in himself without comparing himself to somebody
else. For each one should carry his own load. Let us not
become weary in doing good, for at the proper time, we will
reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore as we have
opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to
those who belong to the family of believers."
