Daniel 7
Disney movies have been very successful. Many of them have become successful by following pretty basic structure. Think of basic structure of most popular Disney movies - movies like The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, the Lion King. Those movies are basically set up like this:
You have bad guy. An evil villain. Represents a monstrous, beastly kind of evil. They want to win and willing to devour everyone and everything around them to do it.
Things look bad for awhile. But then villain is stopped. Justice comes, the villain is confronted and defeated.
Finally, happily ever after. Often the hero becomes a king, everyone celebrates in the new kingdom free from the beastly villain.
This basic structure works well for lots of Disney movies. You know why? Because that's basic structure to many of our most enduring myths and fairy tales. That among the stories we find in each generation of human beings on this planet, you will find stories that set up in similar way - an evil villain, a just confrontation and defeat of the villain, a victorious hero who brings about a happily ever after for everyone who's with him.
And let me tell one other thing - no surprise this works. You could say we naturally, subconsciously inclined to resonate with stories that set up like this because they reflection of real world. They reflect what we experience in the world and also what we wish and hope for our world.
Knowing this will help us understand what going look at today in Daniel 7. Daniel 7 tells us about dream of a guy named Daniel that set up like these stories that we keep telling. A dream that is meant to help us understand the world today. But a dream that goes further than the stories by not just being about what we wish and hope for; dream is Bible's way of letting us know that what wish and hope for will one day come true. There really can be a happily ever after.
