Dealing with Your Anger (1 of 7)
Series: Emotions and The Psalm
Will McGee
Psalm 109
INTRODUCTION: Today, we are beginning a 10-week study of various Psalms. Rankin Wilbourne says, ''The Psalms are prayers given to us by God for God.'' ''When you don't know what or how to pray. You can always go to the Psalms.''
The Psalms speak to the emotions of our heart. When you are angry, hurt, sad, lonely, afraid, ashamed... Or glad! You can go to the Psalms and find words for your emotions. When it feels like no one else understands what you're feeling in your heart, the Psalms do. Even when you don't fully understand what emotions you're feeling; the Psalms help you understand yourself. And as you understand yourself... You can better know God.
For the next ten weeks, we will be looking at various emotions of the heart. And asking, ''What do I do with these emotions?'' How do I submit my feelings to God, so they he can form me into the person he has called me to be?
?This week, we begin with the emotion of anger.
''I'm angry. I'm just frustrated.''
''Why can't I just have a bad day without it being a big deal?''
''How many times have I told you not to do that?''
''Oh, I guess you never make mistakes.''
''Why do you make me talk to you like this?''
''This who I am. I speak my mind. I'm not gonna be fake.''
Anger takes many forms... [From Brad Hambrick]
