Dealing With Your Loneliness (3 of 7)
Series: Emotions and The Psalm

Psalm 142
INTRODUCTION: Thomas Wolfe (Great American Novelist)- ''The whole conviction of my life now rests upon the belief that loneliness, far from being a rare and curious phenomenon, is the central and inevitable fact of human existence.''
As continue in our sermon series on the Psalms and our emotions... Today, we are looking at Psalm 142 and the emotion of Loneliness...

I also think of the loneliness of LEADERSHIP. Anyone who has ever been in any kind of leadership knows this... Whether it is at work. In the church. In civic life. Leadership can be a very lonely place. Because no one else, no matter how hard they try, can understand the weight of burdens you carry and the decisions you have to make. Or if you are a leader... This why being a husband/father can be lonely. You feel a responsibility to lead your family... so you carry burdens alone... Burdens that you feel even your wife wouldn't understand. Loneliness can come when you are GROWING OLD. Kids are grown and out of the house. Friends are dying. Health is deteriorating. The world is getting faster around you, and you feel like nobody really needs you anymore.
