Let me tell a little bit about this movie I saw couple of years ago. A musical that seems be telling standard love story. Boy meets girl. Girl sings a lot. Boy sings a lot. They sing a lot together. So seems to be going in the direction you think it will go. They in the end going be together.

But that isn't what happens. Most of the movie is about them being together. Until the end, where we see them with totally different people. And then the movie ends!

Dennae and I saw the movie and we both said to each other, ''Um, is that it?'' It was kind of unsettling. We want love stories to always go well. That's why I watch the movies! Want our money back.

But the truth is, love stories don't always go well. More often than we like to admit.

Writer/director of movie explains that this ending was intentional. Wanted to do something different at end of movie, something that reflected real life rather a fairy tale. Real life isn't a musical. And in real life the boy and girl go through difficult and tension, and it doesn't always resolve in the end. In real life it can sometimes, often, remain difficult. In real life, doesn't always go well.

While that was pretty unsatisfying ending. Some truth to it. There are no ''clean'' love stories i.e. love stories without tension or conflict or difficulty. Difficulty is part of life. Difficulty is part of our love stories.

It is part of love story in Song of Solomon. Even in this ideal love relationship we see times of difficulty and conflict. 2:15 describes them as foxes that ''spoil the vineyards'' of relationships. While love story of Song of Solomon is mostly one of love pursued and enjoyed, little foxes do peek through at different points. Each time, example of the kind of difficulties that can pop up inside our relationships.
