The Simple Truth About Evil (1 of 15)
Series: What to Preach When You Don't Know What to Preach
Richard Bradley
Ephesians 6:11
11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.NKJV
Ephesians 6:11
11 Put on all of God's armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil. NLT
At some time during this sermon I will likely confirm your worst fears. Don't you hate it when the preacher does that? Ever feel a little paranoid about something? Maybe a feeling like someone is out to get you? To quote a line from a recent movie, ''Just because you're paranoid it doesn't mean someone isn't out to get you.'' The fact is, according to Scripture, someone is out to get us; those of us who trust in Christ. The existence of evil in this world is not a figment of someone's very vivid imagination. In fact, the existence of evil is just as real as God's own existence.
The simple truth is that evil exists and is out to get us. But as you consider this simple fact today don't forget that as a believer you're on the winning side in this conflict. I'm not sure whether or not the devil knows this but he doesn't have to; it's enough that you know it!
THE SIMPLICITY OF THE DEVIL'S EVIL SCHEMES
11 Put on all of God's armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil.
NLT
God has a plan or as Paul described it, a strategy for your life. From the outset let's be clear about one thing. The devil could care less about us as individuals. I don't really think he takes much notice of us as people. It's more likely that when dealing with us he keeps the bigger picture in mind. It's the kingdom of God the evil one wants to bring down and he's very interested in us helping him do that. Whereas God loves you as an individual, the devil wouldn't even know your name if he had any choice in the matter.
John 7:7
7 The world has nothing against you, but it's up in arms ...
