24 And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, 25 not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching. NKJV
I don't know, I think maybe I haven't given this sermon the correct title. Perhaps it ought to be called, ''The simple truth about not going to church'' because there are certainly a lot of folks not doing that these days. This church is no different than any other. There will always be those in every church that should be engaging in weekly worship but choose to be somewhere else when the time comes on Sunday morning.
I know what you're thinking. You're thinking why preach to us about these matters? After all we're in church and they're not. Go preach to them! While this is true I also realize there will come a time when everyone in this sanctuary will face the same temptation and dilemma. Should I be faithful to God's house or not? When that times comes, and it will, just remember the true question is, ''Should I be faithful to God or not?''
Before we get into the heart of this sermon, let's discover the primary reason people aren't faithful to God's House. Why is it that some don't go to church?
1- Some say they don't like the music.
2- Some say they don't like the preacher or his preaching.
3- Some say they don't like the facilities.
4- Some say they don't like someone else in the church.
5- Some say they got their feelings hurt and didn't go back.
Etcetera, etcetera, etcetera! Some say one thing and others say something else. But let's identify the primary reason for a lack of faithfulness to the place of worship. Those that neglect God's House simply don't like God enough. Those that don't go to church aren't running from God's House, they're running from G ...
