The Resurrection of Christ was without a doubt and unequivocally good news.
A faithful group of women had braved the darkness of the early morning, even though that the day is breaking and its dawn; it is still midnight in their lives. They are grieving, their Lord and Savior is dead, he is lying on some stone slab in a tomb. Yet, they are still committed to the master; there is something about their loyalty to him and love for him that they do this act. They are making their way to the tomb to embalm the body of Jesus with the spices that were used in those days. And they are coming in a spirit of mourning and anxiety.

They are anxious about when we get to the tomb, how will we get in? How will we be able to roll the stone away as women was a part of their anxiety? But when they get there, the stone is rolled away, and the tomb is empty, they think that the body has been stolen. But Mary had two encounters that morning, an Angel informed her and the women that Christ was not there but had risen, that was good news. In John's account, after she speaks with this Angel, she turns, and there is someone there that she thought was the gardener. But it was the risen Lord himself, but she did not recognize him. He revealed himself to her as the risen Lord. It was good news to Mary. It was good news for those women who made their way to the tomb that Resurrection morning to hear he has risen!

It was good news to those disciples when they heard the news. They had left everything to follow Jesus. It was such good news, and it sounded too good to be true. Peter and John had to see for themselves; they ran to the tomb. They saw the grave clothes folded neatly and the tomb empty. They believed the good news. It was good news because all of them had made a commitment and sacrifice to follow Christ. Peter, Andrew, James, and John left their fishing business to follow Chri ...
