Acts 16 - Romans 7

Day 323 November 19 - Acts 16 and 17

In chapter 16, we find the team visiting the churches of Galatia because this is where the Judaizers were making a major push to corrupt the newly formed churches. Paul will not tolerate those that want to mix anything with the grace of God. The thing that stands out about the apostle Paul is his fortitude and backbone when facing his foes. He refused to back down from confronting those that were anti-grace and those that wanted to add circumcision upon the Gentiles. We may not fight the battle of circumcision today but we still battle the Judaizers just as Paul battled them. We battle those that want to make dressage a requirement as to ones standing with God. What about those that want to add someone's outward appearance as a requirement of their salvation? We battle those that make baptism as a requirement of being saved.

Point to Ponder

Paul finds a young man that will become an integral part of his ministry as he arrived in Lystra. The young man is none other than Timothy; whose mother was a Jew and his father was Greek. Due to his mother being a Jew, we find that Paul takes Timothy and circumcises him. On the other hand when dealing with Titus, who was wholly a Gentile, he does not have him circumcised. Paul did not want Timothy's un-circumcision to hinder their ministry, but with Titus it was not an issue, since he was a Gentile. How many times do we argue over the nonessentials, when we should be focusing on the things that truly matter? I know people that major on what a woman wears to church, when they should be focusing on their own growth.
