1994, THE YEAR OF THE SERVANT

Jesus called them together and said, "Among the heathen, kings
are tyrants and each minor official lords it over those beneath
him. But among you it is quite different. Anyone wanting to be a
leader must be your servant. And if you want to be right at the
top, you must serve like a slave. Your attitude must be like my
own, for I, the Messiah, did not come to be served, but to
serve, and to give my life as a ransom for many." Mat. 20:25-28

Jesus said that God has determined to accomplish great things
through servant people.

So the victory will not go to the braggart or the arrogant. The
self-assertive will not win in God's measure of greatness. God
will bless humility and the one who bends to serve and give.

My, but this cuts across the grain of the assertive, rights
seeking, "in your face" mentality of much of society today. Our
culture seems enamored with celebrities and the often bizarre
lifestyles of the rich and famous, who have servants to do all
the mundane and tedious things that can be so boring. Who would
