A PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD

"There is a immense and determining difference between knowing
about someone and knowing someone personally and intimately."



Jesus came into the world that we might know the Father in
heaven personally, not just about Him.


JOH 14:1 "Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God;
trust also in me.

JOH 14:8-9 Philip said, "Lord, show us the Father and that will
be enough for us." Jesus answered: "Don't you know me, Philip,
even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who
has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, `Show us the
Father'?

Jesus wants us to TRUST God, not just believe that God is there.

WHY?

Just knowing about God is not saving faith. It is not a personal
relationship of TRUST.

JAM 2:19 You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the
demons believe that--and shudder.

Demons do not have a personal relationship with God even though
they believe He is there, that the One God is real. They do not
have a love for God or the things of God. They are locked into
rebellion and evil. They serve the father of lies who was a
murderer from the beginning, the one who is a thief and a
robber.

In the old TV show Dragnet, Sergeant Friday, would say, "Just
the facts!" He did not want personal details but just the facts.


Knowing God is more that a cognitive experience or mental
exercise.
Why? God desires worship that involves our total being.
