Journey Through the Bible Week 43 (43 of 52)
Series: 365 Day Journey Through the Bible

Mark 15-Luke 11
Day 295 October 22 - Mark 15 and 16
The gospel of Mark is about the dealings and the doings of the Lord. The gospel is not about us or about our input or our insight but is totally based upon the Lord Jesus Christ. We see the Lord as he is ushered before Pile, then he is quickly condemned as the crowd jeers him and seeks for the releasing of Barabbas. The crown of thorns is placed harshly upon his head and they would have protruding from the thin layer of skin upon his skull.

The Romans were blood thirsty for crucifying insurgents or rabble-rousers and the crucifixion of Jesus was not anything special to them. The road around Mount Calvary would have been a main thoroughfare and onlookers were used to seeing the bodies of criminals hanging upon the crosses. The events of that morning were brutal and the beating that Christ had already received was beyond one's capability of enduring pain. The Roman soldiers would have inflicted so much torture upon the Lord, that the dying man would gladly accept the ending of the pain.
I - The Shocking Crucifixion of Jesus (Mark 15)
II - The Stunning Resurrection of Jesus (Mark 15)
Point to Ponder

This man had never sinned and he had truly lived a perfect life. There was no person alive that could lodge any type of indictment against him for wrongdoing. At any moment God could have sent legions of angels to stop the crucifixion or to wipe out the entire world, but that would not happen. The Lord endured the suffering and the shame of the cross to pay the payment for our sins and to redeem us from sin.
Point to Ponder
The moment he died, the ground quaked, the veil in the temple ...
