We like a good ending to a story, especially a tragic story where someone was treated badly, but in the end, it turned out good. Such as a homeless boy who determined to finish High School and was then given a scholarship to a college and then went on to have a successful career.

C.S. Lewis - ''You cannot go back and change the beginning, but you can start where you are and change the ending.''

If a person faithfully walks with God, he will watch over them. Proverbs 2:7 God is a shield for those who walk in integrity.

Although Joseph was hated by his brothers and sold as a slave he never gave up on his faith in God though out the trials he faced. Genesis 39:9 When tempted to commit adultery he told Potiphar's wife, ''How can I do great wickedness and sin against God?''

Genesis 40:8 When Pharaoh's cupbearer and baker had dreams he told them, ''Do not interpretations belong to God?''

Genesis 41:16 When Pharaoh said to Joseph that he had been told Joseph could interpret his dream. Joseph replied, ''It is not in me; but God will give Pharaoh a favorable answer.''

God rewarded Joseph's continual faith in him by allowing him to live to the age of 110 and seeing his great-grandchildren.

ASSURES HIS FORGIVENESS :15-21

Fear :15 After Jacob's death Joseph's brothers came to him afraid that with their father dead there would be no one to mediate between them and him so he might turn on them and now punish them.

We ask ourselves what was the problem? Joseph had forgiven them, brought their families down to Egypt and provided for them for the past 17 years (47:28). Why were they now so afraid? F.B. Meyer - ''By their own dark hearts his brothers could not believe in the sincerity and genuineness of his forgiveness.''

There could be three reasons they could not accept his forgiveness:
