Genesis 45:1-15
Family reunions can be emotional because:
1. We have not seen a family member for a long time. Seeing that person causes our feelings to overwhelm us.
2. There have been hard feelings between individuals in the family. Sometimes nothing is said so that the past is not brought up and other times people forgive one another so long held emotions are expressed through tears.
For Christians forgiveness is not just a nice thing to do for others. God requires we forgive others because we have been forgiven.
Luke 11:4 Forgive us our sins, for we also forgive everyone who sins against us.
Ephesians 4:32 Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as God in Christ forgave you.
To forgive someone who has sinned against you is hard because you have been hurt emotionally. It takes humility to forgive someone because of the hurt you have experienced.

He cried so loudly that the servants outside the room heard him.
:3 I am Joseph - this is the first time he spoke to them in Hebrew. Up until now he had been using and interpreter so they would not suspect he was a Hebrew like them (42:23). Is my father still alive - revealed the love he had for his father. Jacob who had given him that special robe so long ago (37:3). More than 20 years had passed and he longed to see his father once again. The man who had loved him so much.
