We went to church but it was all appearances. When we got home there was nothing different. There was no real love and acceptance, just control games. We didn't talk about differences. We pretended everything was alright. We were not allowed to show our real feelings. It was a lifestyle of denial that anything was wrong. I never was taught that I had any importance in myself. I was there simply to be what they wanted me to be.
