INTRO: Take your Bibles this morning and be finding your place at Joshua, chapter 10. In just a minute we're going to be reading and studying verses 12-14.
Today we're going to continue talking about -
What it means to really be victorious.
What it means to have a strong courageous faith.
What it means to break down strongholds and overcome the obstacles that stand between where we are and where God wants us to be.
This morning, we're going to see in the Bible where God commanded the sun to stand still in the sky for most of a day.
It's a great miracle that declares God's great love for us, and demonstrates that He's the one who enables and empowers us to overcome the strongholds in our lives. Because, as you're going to see this morning, there were five kings that Joshua and the children of Israel had to conquer in order for them to claim the victory that God had promised to give them in the land of Canaan.
And, in much the same way, there may be kings in your life that need to be conquered and overcome before you can enter into and enjoy the powerful, successful, wonderful, victorious Christian life that the Lord has for you.
Don't forget what the Apostle Paul taught us. He told us in -
(IMAG) ''For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds.'' (2 Corinthians 10:4)
You see, there were strongholds in Canaan.
God had promised the land to them.
God had provided the land for them.
But now the land had to be conquered and claimed.
And so, those strongholds had to be pulled down through the mighty power and miraculous intervention of God.
Now, I want you to notice why it was so important and imperative that God give them the victory over these five kings. This victory was vital because the battle that is described for us here in Joshua 10 was one that would determine whether or not a Savior would be ...
