Genesis 39:13-23
In December 2017 Democrat Andrea Ramsey dropped out of the race to take on the Kansas Republican representative after sexual harassment allegations surfaced against her. When she was vice president of human resources at the company LabOne she made sexual advances towards a subordinate and retaliated against him when he refused her.
''Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned'' is a proverb is adapted from a line in the play ''The Mourning Bride,'' by William Congreve in the late 1800's. The original line was: ''Heaven has no rage like love to hatred turned; Not hell a fury, like a woman scorned.''
No one is angrier than a woman whose love has been rejected. Out of anger a woman wants to take revenge because of rejection. Rejection always hurts, but it hurts even more when your emotions are involved because you have feelings for the other person.
Anger is a powerful emotion which can cause a person to do something they would not other wise do. They might harm themselves or someone else out of fit of anger.
Ephesians 4:26 Paul gave us a warning about controlling anger. Be angry and do not sin. NIV - In your anger, do not sin.
FALSELY CHARGED :13-18
Men :13-15 As soon as - Joseph fled the house the lust Potiphar's wife had towards him immediately turned to anger against him which resulted in her wanting revenge. She was probably used to getting what she wanted and so she was deeply upset when Joseph said no.
:14 Hebrew - shows her scorn she has for this foreigner (:17). They were called Hebrews by the Egyptians because that was the dialect they spoke (Exodus 1:15,19).
Laugh (KJB mock, NIV sport) - Heb. to play with. Isaac playing with his wife Rebekah (26:8).
In these two stories it suggests an intimate relationship.
Potiphar's wife told the other servants two lies about Joseph:
1. He came in to me to lie with me - she had pursued him.
