JEHOVAH SHALOM- PART ONE (10 OF 15)
Jehovah Shalom- Part One (10 of 15)
Series: What a Wonderful Name

Judges 6
As we continue our study on the names of God under the heading, ''WHAT A WONDERFUL NAME,'' take God's word and turn with me to Judges, the sixth chapter where we find Gideon building an altar to the LORD and calling it ''The-LORD-Shalom.'' Jehovah Shalom, The Lord is Peace!
The altar was the place where restoration and reconciliation was made between God and man who are divided by sin but atoned for by the shedding of blood.
When God provided a ram in the thicket for Abraham to sacrifice rather than his son Isaac, Genesis 22.14 tells us that ''Abraham called the name of the place, 'The-LORD-Will-Provide; as it is said to this day, 'In the Mount of the LORD it shall be provided.'' Abraham named that place after an activity of God, namely, providing the sacrificial ram. And it's from the name Jehovah Jireh we can know that our God is the need-meeting God!
The-LORD-Will-Provide.
Now it's here in Judges 6 we're going to find Gideon naming another altar at another place Jehovah Shalom or ''The-LORD-Shalom,'' and it's the name ''The-LORD-Shalom'' that is our focus tonight.
Keep in mind that every name He bears is a blessing that He shares. And my, what a blessing we find here that He shares: the blessing of peace! There's nothing on earth like His blessing of peace that surpasses all of our understanding.
Now there's a lot of talk these days about peace! That's nothing new. In fact, do you recognize this sign?
