God's Big Three

I Corinthians 13:13
"And now these three remain: faith, hope and love."
There are some things you just cannot do without. The obvious physical necessities of life include food and water, light, and air. Most of us could miss a few meals and still make it for quite a while, but without air we'd all be dead in minutes. But what are the spiritual necessities? What are the spiritual things we must live and breathe or we die? According to the Bible there are three we must have to survive. They are faith, hope, and love. Do you have all three in abundance? God desires that you do! We don't have them for sale this morning. They cannot be bought with money, but they do last forever! The next three weeks will be devoted to discovering more about "GOD'S BIG THREE: FAITH, HOPE, AND LOVE," and how we can have them in abundance.
This morning our attention is drawn to faith. Remember hearing about Jesus challenging the disciples by describing their faith as "little"? He said, "O you of little faith." It was no compliment. Jesus was looking for "great faith" which he was known to compliment!
What about you this morning? Do you have a great faith or a little faith or are you struggling to find any faith at all?
Faith is such a necessity of spiritual life that without it we will live in fear of failure or bogged down in mediocrity. A life of adventure and excellence is for those who live by faith.
Please join me in prayer.
Father in heaven, You are faithful in all things. Teach us about real faith today. Thank you that your word tells us "...without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him." Give to us what it takes to have that kind of faith. Challenge us out of shallow living. In Jesus' Name, amen. For sure, no one ever rises above their circumstances or mediocrity without faith!
