HOW TO EMBRACE THE CROSS
JESUS SPOKE VERY CLEARLY ABOUT THE CROSS IN TWO APPLICATIONS.
HE SPOKE OF THE CROSS HE WOULD BE LIFTED UP ON.
JOH 12:32-33 But I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will
draw all men to myself." He said this to show the kind of death
he was going to die.
MAT 16:21 From that time on Jesus began to explain to his
disciples that he must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things at
the hands of the elders, chief priests and teachers of the law,
and that he must be killed and on the third day be raised to
life.
SO, JESUS DEATH ON THE CROSS WAS NO SECRET TO HIM! HE WILLINGLY
DELIVERED HIMSELF UP TO SUFFER DEATH FOR OTHERS! WE STAND AMAZED
AT HIS HEROIC CHARACTER AND TOTAL COMPASSION IN HIS WILLINGNESS
TO ENDURE HELL FOR YOU ON THE CROSS.
THE SHADOW OF THE CROSS WAS IN FRONT OF HIM EVERY STEP HE TOOK.
THERE IS A PAINTING OF JESUS AT WORK IN THE CARPENTER SHOP OF
HIS FATHER. THE SUN CASTS THE SHADOW OF A CROSS ON THE WALL
BEHIND HIM. HE KNEW!
ISA 53:5 But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was
crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace
was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed.
WHEN WE HEAR OF JESUS LIFTED UP ON HIS CROSS WE ARE CALLED TO
HIM. IT IS BECAUSE HE IS INNOCENT AND WE ARE GUILTY. HE IS
SUFFERING IN OUR PLACE AND WE ARE COMPELLED TO RESPOND! THERE IS
NOTHING NEUTRAL ABOUT WHAT JESUS HAS DONE. IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO
BE APATHETIC. WE ARE CALLED TO REPENTANCE AND FAITH OR TO REJECT
HIM AS A LIAR AND LUNATIC.
JESUS SPOKE CLEARLY ABOUT HIS CROSS, THE ONE HE WOULD BE NAILED
TO, AND ALSO HE SPOKE C ...
