Colossians 3:18-4:1

Quick review of the past several weeks as we have been uncovering some incredible truth from the letter that Paul wrote to the church at Colosse. The primary thrust of Paul is that he starts with incredible theology, incredible truths about who Jesus is - above all, the one who brings hope to a dark world, the one who gave himself freely to us, to show the way to restored relationship with the Father through the Cross. Paul then says that because of this truth, there is a change that is made within us - and we are empowered to now LIVE differently. SO, the way we interact with the world around us, and also the world within us, changes. We are to put off certain things - anger, slander, immorality, and more. We are to put on, however, the great things of God - compassion, humility, peace, love. This is to mark our lives, the practical living of the cross of Christ n our daily lives.

Now, Paul turns from a focus on the individual and the church, to the one area that we have all figured out and get A's on all the time. Family relationships. How does this Christ-in-us-thinking-and-living actually show up with those that are closest to us. This is the real test. It is in the family, regardless of marital status, whether you have kids or not! It's the day to day life that has a lot to show for what Jesus really means to us!

As I read this passage, we are going to be confronted with language that may be tough to assimilate at first glance. So stick with me to the end, and I think that we will discover together some life-altering truths that we revolutionize our families and relationships.
