MIGHTY MEN OF GOD: PART II
ON BEING A BLESSING TO GOD - PSALM 103,
DAVID IS TALKING TO HIMSELF ABOUT HIS ATTITUDE TO GOD IN
WORSHIP.
IS HIS HEART REALLY IN IT?
HE TALKS TO HIMSELF, TO HIS "SOUL", "HIS INNERMOST BEING".
DAVID IS THINKING ABOUT THE CONDITION OF HIS SPIRIT AS HE
APPROACHES GOD IN WORSHIP!
*IS HE INVOLVED OR NOT?
*IS HE SPIRITUALLY ALERT, OR SLACKING OFF?
FOR DAVID TO COME BEFORE GOD, THERE IS:
EXCITEMENT, ENTHUSIASM AND EXPECTATION.
ADRENALINE IS FLOWING. HE IS PUMPED UP ABOUT GOD.
HE IS NOT THINKING ABOUT MECHANICALLY GOING THROUGH THE MOTIONS
OF WORSHIP SO HE CAN GET ON WITH HIS LIFE.
HE IS NOT PASSIVE, NONCHALANT, CASUAL, ALOOF, OR BLASE'.
HE KNOWS THAT WILL BRING GOD NO PLEASURE.
HE WOULD LIKE TO SEE GOD'S SMILE!
THINK ABOUT THAT FOR JUST A MOMENT!!!!!
*HE FORGETS THE APPLAUSE OR APPROVAL OF PEOPLE.
*HE FORGETS HIS OWN DESIRES FOR HAPPINESS AND COMFORT!
HE DESIRES TO TRULY BLESS GOD!
THERE ARE NO PETITIONS IN THE PSALM. HE ASKS FOR NOTHING.
HE DESIRES TO BLESS GOD, NOT SIMPLY BE BLESSED BY GOD.
HOW MANY OF US HAVE COME HERE TODAY LOOKING FOR A BLESSING?
SURE WE HAVE!
WE ALL NEED TO BE BLESSED WITH GOD'S GRACE, FORGIVENESS, TRUTH,
AND STRENGTH TO GO ON IN FAITH AND NOT LOSE HOPE AS WE FACE THE
CHALLENGES OF LIFE.
BUT DAVID CAME BEFORE THE LORD TO BLESS GOD!
DAVID WAS THINKING OF GOD'S FEELINGS!
GOD HAS FEELINGS....
