Jehovah Jireh (8 of 15)
Series: What a Wonderful Name
Ernest L. Easley
Genesis 22:1-14
Now before we consider another one of the names God bears and the blessing that He shares, turn with me to Psalm 91.
Over the past few weeks we have considered several powerful names of God beginning with Elohim, which is translated ''God'' by the translators in the Old Testament.
Next came the name Jehovah, a name derived from that four-letter name YHWH and the vowel's from Adonai inserted between those four consonants. We can know the name Jehovah is indicated by the name LORD in all capital letters throughout the Old Testament.

And then last time together: El Elyon, which is translated, ''God Most High.''
Now what we find in Psalm 91 are all four of these names in one powerful and personal statement. Psalm 91.1-2, ''He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High (Elyon) shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty (El Shaddai). I will say of the LORD (Jehovah), He is my refuge and my fortress; My God (Elohim), in Him I will trust.''
Verse 1, ''He who dwells (rests, abide) in the secret place (place of refuge from the storms) of the Most High (Elyon). That speaks of our PLACE! God provides us a PLACE to rest and regroup from the storms of life for He is El Elyon, ''God Most High.''
It's ''the secret place!'' It's not a secret place to the psalmist! In fact, this secret place is a secure place to him and to us! So this place to rest and regroup and recalibrate and refresh is described as ''the secret place.''
A secret is something that others do not know, right? So who doesn't know this secret place? Those outside of Christ! Those without a relationship with Jesus! It's salvation that brings us to ''the secret place! ...
