1.0 Important Definitions (Acts 11:19-26)
1.1 The terms culture and cross-cultural means:

A) H. Richard Niebuhr in his book Christ and Culture defines culture as, ''The work of men's minds and hands. It is that portion of man's heritage in any place or time which has been given us designedly and laboriously by other men....Hence it includes speech, education, tradition, myth, science, art, philosophy, government, law, rite, beliefs, inventions, technologies.

B) Cross-Cultural means the interaction of people with other people who stem from different cultures. It also means actions or speech that transcends the walls of any one particular culture.

1.2 Cross-cultural preaching means:

A) It is preaching that gives every culture access to the message.

B) Preaching that represents God's multicultural interest (Matt. 28:18-20).

1. The gospel was always intended to be ethnically diverse. It should never operate based on PRECONVERTED preferences.
2. The church's pulpit is to REPRESENT the community-its diversity-in such a way that people's needs are met.
3. The church's pulpit is to represent the world-all nations-and God's HEART for the world must be communicated.

C) Preaching that sees the eternal destiny of a person beyond their cultural destiny.

2.1 The MESSENGER is cross-cultural
A) The preacher is cross-cultural in his/her perspective of the world.

B) The preacher can be an advocate for other cultures' perspective.

C) The preacher is cross-cultural on a personal level, when away from the pulpit.
